Startling Parallels in Karmic Soul Connections

Copyright Soul Arcanum LLC. All rights reserved. :)

Dear Soul Arcanum:

It has been a very long road since my husband John’s death, and now that I’ve moved on and found new love, I’ve been trying to figure out how my husband John and boyfriend Michael are connected, for they have many similarities in terms of their likes, expressions and even some aspects of the way they look. I didn’t see any of this upon first meeting Michael, but I did feel an instant sense of recognition. Since then, I’ve been trying to figure out the connection, and after reading some of your articles, it dawned on me that the three of us may have been one soul before, and now we’ve divided into different bodies. Do you think that’s possible? Thanks for sharing your light!
– T.

Dear T.

You’ve reminded me of something strange that happened to me a long time ago. I haven’t told anyone about this before because it’s pretty far out.

My first love, Todd, was on the short side and very stocky/muscular. He had a strong jaw and an unusual scar on his right shoulder. It’s called a keloid scar, and it looked like a raised, reddish bubble about the size of a grape. He was very into rock and roll, and was in a rock band. Though he hid it from everyone (including me), he also had a major problem with drug and alcohol addiction. He was born on January 16, 1967.

Todd died very unexpectedly at the age of 18, and it was due to the incredible experiences I had around the time of his death that I began to question the nature of reality and ponder some big spiritual questions.

I left for college about 18 months after he died, and was placed in a dorm room right next door to that of a young man named Dan. I felt a very strong karmic connection to Dan right away. Here’s where things bend so far beyond the scope of coincidence that any sane, reasonable person has to wonder what the heck is going on.

Dan had the same stocky build Todd had had, the same strong jaw, and he was also into rock and roll. In fact, he played a mean electric guitar, which was really unusual at the very conservative university we were attending. I was soon to learn that Dan also had a serious alcohol addiction.

As I mentioned, I felt a very strong connection to him and he seemed to feel an equally strong attraction to me. We soon became lovers, and that’s when I discovered that he had a scar on his right shoulder that was identical to the one Todd had had in the same place. I could feel something strange rippling beneath the surface here, and without consciously thinking about it, I found myself asking him when he was born.

When he told me he was born on January 16, 1967 – the exact same day that Todd was born – my mind was just totally blown. As I tried to wrap my head around all these amazing parallels, I remembered something that Todd’s mother had told me the first time I met her. At that time it had been a subject of mild interest, but now it was like a flashing neon sign in my mind. She’d told me that Todd was her “miracle baby” because he’d had a twin who had died in the womb.

While I knew this was a really far out idea, I naturally began to wonder if Dan could be Todd’s twin somehow. Perhaps they had intended to be born to the same mother, but then Dan decided that a different body and family situation would better serve his soul’s needs.

I’ve since studied a lot of past life regression research and learned that people who are regressed to the period between lives consistently report that we have a choice about the bodies and families we’ll be born into. However, there are only so many bodies available, so we have to try to find the best fit for us given various factors. If something went wrong with the body of the twin, Dan may have had to find an alternative. Of course, it’s possible that he changed his mind first and when he withdrew his life force energy, the body of the twin stopped growing.

I certainly felt a very strong sense of connection to both of these young men the instant I met them, though at that time, I didn’t know what that strange feeling was. I now believe that our deep karmic connection naturally drew us into each other’s experience again.

As for how all of this may work, when I ponder the idea of reincarnation, I keep returning to a model of the incarnating soul that mirrors biological cellular division. We know that living cells divide into new “incarnations,” which divide into further incarnations, so it makes sense to me to assume that the metaphysical mirrors the physical, and that the same dynamic happens on a spiritual level.

This model resonates with me for many reasons. In fact, it explains all sorts of phenomena. For example:

  • It’s in harmony with the notion that “God” is both our Source and is everywhere and in everything.

  • It explains the universal spiritual teaching that we are all ultimately One: all from one Source and all connected on some level. Just as the cells in our bodies have all grown from the same fertilized egg, our souls have all grown from the same Divine spirit.

  • It explains how more than one person could remember living the same past life, that incarnation having occurred before that spirit divided into more spirits. It also illuminates the dynamic behind the notion of spiritual families, the members of which would be more directly or recently descended from the same ancestor spirits.

  • It explains the keen sense of connection and recognition we feel with some people, these being those we were more recently at one with.

  • It explains how reincarnation could be true despite the fact that the population of the planet is increasing, for there are ever more souls to incarnate than there used to be.

  • It jibes with our awareness that on a spiritual level, we are immortal, for we are forever expanding into new experiences, world without end. It is our nature to go forth and multiply. It also mirrors our awareness that the Universe is ever expanding.

If your mind can handle a bit more stretching, try this on for size: perhaps to each cell in our bodies, the whole of who we are is “God,” and similarly, what we consider to be God is a living entity of which we are a tiny aspect. The microcosm mirrors the macrocosm.

I don’t know that this is how it works, of course – no one can say for sure. It’s just a mental model that may explain some of the strange things we experience in karmic relationships.

Battling Dark or Hateful Impulses

Copyright Soul Arcanum LLC. All rights reserved. :)

Dear Soul Arcanum:

Do you ever get sudden impulses to do bad things? Sometimes, particularly when I’m on the internet, I get a sudden impulse to do or say something. I have an online journal wherein I try to understand myself and my deepest motives better. I know that the people who read my journal can be affected by it, as I notice ripple effects. For example, I make a hateful post about something, and then the next day several other people are complaining and being really negative.

Because of this ripple effect, I’ve gotten much more careful about what I say and why I say it, but sometimes I still get impulses to say harsh or extreme things and I go with it, not knowing why. It’s very important to me to do the right thing, so often after I act on those impulses, I start to feel really uncomfortable and wonder why I did that. Do you have insights into this?
– N.

N.:

You’re wrestling in a battle between your lower and higher natures, which I’ll call the ego and the higher self here. This is something everyone on the planet is struggling with. As we become more spiritually aware, we become more conscious of this struggle, and as you described, it becomes more important to us to do the right thing.

Sometimes we put too much pressure on ourselves to be perfect, which can lead to a backlash. It’s like when I go into a store full of breakable objects, and I get so tense about accidentally breaking something that sometimes I have the impulse to just thrash around wildly. (I never do that of course, but this is a good example of the tension we create when we put a lot of pressure on ourselves.)

The ego will also start to freak out as we evolve spiritually and the higher self gains ground, and when the ego is really taking a licking, it may begin to thrash around like a drowning man desperate to save himself.

Picture your being as a very important group, and for years and years, Ego has been its leader. Ego has determined the general direction for the group and had the ultimate say in things. All along, of course, Higher Self has sat quietly in the background, gently interjecting now and then as the voice of your conscience, slipping in wise, positive suggestions to try to keep everyone on track.

There have been countless debates between Ego and Higher Self, wherein Ego would shout about strategy and protecting the group’s interests, while Higher Self would calmly respond with suggestions to relax, trust, forgive, reach out, be kind, etc. At some point, the group began to listen more and more to Higher Self, and many members nominated him to be the new group leader.

Now when Ego raises his hand, he’s usually ignored, so he’s begun to leap up in outbursts of frustration, trying to get some attention and hold on to his former power. Despite how crazy he’s acting, now and then he manages to stir up a lot of fear in the group, and gets them to go along with one of his desperate plans. After everyone calms down, they realize they’ve been misled again, and they wonder why they keep listening to this guy.

This is mainly what you’re dealing with here: you’ve grown a lot recently, and are in the process of consciously aligning with your higher self. Your ego is fighting for its life, for when we ultimately realize the truth that we are all one and we reunite with Source, the ego ceases to exist.

This is all part of the universal battle between good and evil, which is quite real despite what many lovely New Age folks will tell you. If there was nothing but love and light, we’d all just be floating around in a state of perpetual bliss. Everything has a shadow side or opposite, and life itself springs from the tension born of this contrast.

So what you’re struggling with is wonderful fertilizer for spiritual growth. Without the temptation to be bad, how could we strive to be good? Without the temptation to be hateful, how could we learn to be loving? Everyone on the planet is wrestling with the same issues and temptations. The question of the hour is which will YOU choose?

Beyond this personal level, we’re all virtual pioneers trying to sort out all sorts of unprecedented challenges and opportunities. The world is racing along faster than ever before in history. We can connect with strangers in every corner of the globe, and information can travel around the planet at the click of a button now.

Because of this pace, we can learn and experience more in this lifetime than we could in many lifetimes in other historic periods. We can do more good but we can also do more damage. For example, with the flip of one switch, some crazy guy could cause global nuclear disaster. At the same time, anyone with a computer and a bold vision can unite the world in love and compassion. Everything has shifted upward toward the etheric or virtual realm where we have more power to affect other people through metaphysical means than ever before, and with that power comes great responsibility.

Picture that your personal power is like a fire: if you control it and use it for positive purposes, such as warming a house or cooking nourishing food, your fire can do a lot of good. If you don’t control it, however, it can cause a lot of damage.

Further, let’s say that dark forces are like water. They like things cold, dark and wet, not bright, warm and toasty, so their natural goal is to put your divine fire out. As your fire grows bigger and brighter, it becomes more of a target for dark forces, so you have to tend it more carefully.

When we consciously cultivate a high vibration and we develop the habit of using self-discipline to rise above the ego’s temptations, it becomes normal for us to stay centered in the higher self. We then notice immediately if our light begins to dim, and when we stoke it up bright and hot again, it naturally drives dark shadows away. What many earnest seekers fail to realize, however, is that you can’t scold or punish yourself into a high vibration – you have to love your way there.

So when we combine the power of modern technology with the personal power gained through spiritual growth, we’re dealing with a lot of power and the need for a lot of responsibility. Our thoughts, feelings and words can affect people around the world in an instant, and as you noted, this can ripple out and affect the whole planet.

I encourage you to recognize how powerful you are and to make a conscious choice about how you want to use that power. You might scrap the online journal you’ve had going or transform it into a new blog with a higher intention. Instead posting whatever thoughts or feelings come up for the world to see, you could consciously cultivate something beautiful and bright with divine love.

Spiritual Effects of Marijuana

Copyright Soul Arcanum LLC. All rights reserved. :)

Dear Soul Arcanum:

People say that marijuana can lead to enlightening experiences, but I don’t think that’s the case. From my experience, it just seems like it messes up the senses and causes a lot of confusion. When I smoked it, my mind was separated from the physical world and I felt oblivious to what was happening around me. Am I validated in feeling this way? What are the spiritual effects of smoking marijuana?
– Ned

Dear Ned:

Please note that this article in no way encourages illegal activity of any kind; it’s purely a philosophical discussion.

The spiritual effects of marijuana use depend entirely on who you are, where you are in your journey, and your intention in using it. Drugs aside, people should be psychologically stable and healthy before exploring altered states of consciousness.

Most of our beliefs about illicit drugs stem from social conditioning and our observations of people who abuse them in order to avoid reality. When people who aren’t stable and competent in everyday life take recreational drugs, it’s like watching someone who just learned to drive climb into the cockpit of an airplane. By contrast, people who are ready for it and have a clear sense of where they want to go can fly to new dimensions of spiritual experience by employing various sacred tools and practices.

Many sincere seekers who embrace marijuana as a sacrament find it spiritually beneficial. Further, many times when people use marijuana for the first time, it opens them up to a whole new realm of possibilities because getting high focuses their attention inward, toward the realm of spirit. Pot alters our state of consciousness and increases alpha brain waves much like meditation and other trance work. In terms of its effects on the aura, it can create a lovely green color and open the heart chakra. So you’re right in saying that it loosens your awareness of the physical world, but isn’t that one aim of spiritual practice?

Perhaps the most dramatic spiritual effect of marijuana use can be seen in people who are strongly rooted in physical, rational, left-brain thinking. From birth we are programmed with what and how to think, which can become a mental straight jacket that prevents us from moving beyond ordinary levels of wisdom, consciousness and spiritual experience.

Through altered states of consciousness, we can escape from that mental conditioning and expand the scope of our inner horizons. When we get high, we often experience higher levels of love, peace and awareness. Before we experience something, we don’t even know that it’s possible, but after we’ve done it at least once, it’s easier to find our way back to it without aid of outside influences.

So just trying marijuana can awaken people who are uptight with social conditioning to new spiritual possibilities. Further, when their existing beliefs are shattered, they hopefully learn to question everything else they’ve assumed to be true, possible, right, good, etc. This blesses them with an open mind, which fosters further personal and spiritual growth.

Marijuana can also turn on parts of the brain that have remained dormant and free our consciousness to wander into new psychic territory. According to at least one very involved study, using marijuana can profoundly increase a person’s chances of having an out of body experience. Marijuana users are also far more likely to report experiences of ESP, telepathy, precognition, clairvoyance and other psychic phenomena. In lab experiments, regular marijuana users have also scored significantly higher on psychic tests than non-users.

Similar studies have found a negative correlation between ESP scoring and alcohol use, and scientists have noted that marijuana affects the brain differently from drugs like alcohol, nicotine and cocaine. For example, marijuana seems to generate the growth of new brain cells and stimulate brain cells in ways that combat depression and other mood disorders, where the other drugs have an opposite effect.

Marijuana users also frequently report spiritual experiences, such as feeling connected to All That Is; contact with Divine beings like spirits, angels and guides; a deep sense of peace and contentment; a shift in their values away from materialism toward more spiritual interests and concerns, etc. Just meeting spiritual beings or having an out of body experience can spiritually transform people by opening them up to all sorts of new possibilities, allowing them to shed limiting fears, and launching them on a quest for new wisdom and experience.

Further, the term “to get high” accurately reflects marijuana’s spiritual effects. When most people smoke marijuana, they get fully present in the moment, drop all emotional resistance and sink into a wonderful state of appreciation. As a result, their vibration skyrockets. When our vibration is soaring, we’re more open to life and other people, which facilitates greater psychic and spiritual awareness. (Those who feel paranoid on marijuana should definitely avoid it, and might view this as a sign that they have a lot of repressed fears to be healed and released.)

Since marijuana doesn’t lower our vibration and it isn’t addictive, we don’t have to worry about lower astral entities as we do with other substances like alcohol. In fact, smudging with marijuana can dispel dark energies and cleanse the psychic atmosphere like sage does, for its energetic tone resonates with purification, liberation, peace and love.

All of this aside, please understand that I am just explaining why marijuana may have spiritually beneficial effects on some people. I am not in any way trying to convince you to change your mind about what is best for you personally, nor am I advocating the use of mind altering drugs for spiritual growth. Scientists have learned that the body produces its own psychedelic chemicals, so when we ingest a mind altering drug, we’re not introducing anything truly foreign into our bodies. This means we don’t NEED things like marijuana in order to attain the states of consciousness they induce.

I also believe that there is a point early on in every conscious spiritual journey when the use of mind altering substances becomes more limiting than beneficial. We might equate this with becoming an astronaut: when you can soar into the cosmos in a rocket, climbing into the cockpit of that airplane I mentioned earlier will prevent you from going as far and as high as you could without it.

Marijuana has been used as a spiritual tool for ages, and like any other tool, it can be used for destructive or constructive purposes. If spiritual seekers take a wise, mature approach, using marijuana may expand their consciousness and help them tap new psychic ability.

Astral Sex: My First Out of Body Experience

Following are the (very surprising!) details of my first out-of-body experience:

I had been reading Bob Peterson’s book and practicing some of his exercises for a few weeks. I would lay down whenever I could find the time. (Never in the morning after waking, unfortunately, for that was just too busy a time at my house with my children. Morning is supposed to be an optimum time for practicing).
I would begin by completely relaxing my body, beginning with the toes and moving up and ending with my face. Then I would do a chakra cleansing and re-energizing, and finally I would use a mind control method to detach my consciousness from physical sensation. (See exercises).

I had achieved one exerience where I felt the beginning of “vibrations,” and another where I felt strange energy surges. I had yet to achieve an out-of-body state, but a side effect of my practicing was that I began to see energy blobs, rays and formations everywhere. It was similar to the astral energy I perceive in auras and in communicating with spirits, but had much less vitality and no personality. My interpretation is that I am perceiving structures in the astral or another plane. I asked Bob Peterson about it, and he told me he has experienced the same thing.

Following is what happened.

I put my baby down for a nap and lay down to hopefully take an astral nap myself. As author D.J Conway suggested in Flying without a Broom, I surrounded myself with divine white light and prayed to connect with a higher guide or teacher on the astral who would help me with a problem I’d been having (frustration with my utterly domestic existence as it restricted me time-wise from pursuing everything else I wanted to be doing). I then began relaxing my body, beginning with the feet, ankles, etc…I made it to the calves, and the next thing I knew I was at this church across the road from my subdivision.

The following experience is rather personal (sexual) and I hope you won’t be offended by my sharing it in the interest of science. It was different from a dream, as I was in some physical form but it was lighter and more fluid than my physical body. I expected the experience to be the same as waking reality, and was surprised. The most surprising aspect was that my vision was not normal. (I hadn’t yet read the chapter on vision in Peterson’s book). It was like I had this long tunnel I was looking down, and the things at the end of the tunnel were clear, but everything around them was blurry.

There were other “presences” around the church, and they felt male. Next I’m having what I can best describe as astral sex with one male, then a whole group of them. (This was distinctly different from physical sex…it was wholly an energy thing). I didn’t resist at all, but rather, was completely absorbed in the experience and it was fabulous. (My attitude regarding this shocked me upon reflection. I began to wonder if there was an astral equivalent to AIDS and other std’s, and decided I’d better not think about it or they might become real for me!).

At one point, the entities lifted me up by what was like my wrists and ankles, and it was like I was made of some liquid that is heavier than air but much lighter than flesh. There were definite physical laws in effect, but they were different than what we normally deal with.

I had the sudden thought, “Oh my God, I’ve left my baby napping and the front door is unlocked! I have to get home!” I was not frightened or even worried; it was almost a mock concern, a voice from physical reality creeping in. Next thing I knew, I was hopping/flying down the sidewalk toward my house. While there was a lot of snow here in reality at the time, it had melted in this other dimension, and I thought that was odd. I was trying to hurry home, but I hadn’t quite gotten the hang of how to move about in this jello-like body, so I was doing this little hop…fly fly fly…hop…fly fly fly maneuver. I did imagine that this would seem very comical to anyone who saw me. Next thing I knew, I was back in my bed, but I still had no sensation of my body.

Then I thought I had opened my eyes, and I sensed a presence in the hallway. (I realized that my eyes weren’t really open, however, because my vision wasn’t normal). My husband was on a return flight from Europe at the time of this nap, and I thought, “Oh my goodness, he’s home. But it’s so early!” Next thing I knew I was on my couch, making love again, but I could only see bits of ceiling and the room as I tried to swing that tunnel vision toward the being I was with. His head was on my chest and I touched his hair and thought, “It’s G [my husband at the time].” I felt like it was G, and therefore felt fine making love to him, but then I had the thought that it was a trick, and whoever it was was just making me think it was G so I’d make love to him. (I wasn’t really too concerned with who it was, but was happy to think it was my husband).

But then the energy felt like G’s, and next thing I knew I was on an airplane with my husband and we were both in astral form and we were curled up together in this little corner. I prayed that he would land safely, and then I saw the plane coming down, though this was definitely in another dimension: the plane, the workers, the runway, etc…). I came back into my body, and just then my baby woke up. It took a while for me to feel like I was completely back in the physical.

This experience was incredible, but left me with many questions.

Why, when I prayed for guidance, did I just get lots of sex?

I’ve since noticed that my well-laid plans for astral-adventures seem to be quickly forgotten once I’m out of body.

Why was my vision distorted?

I read Bob Peterson’s chapter on astral vision and it confirmed for me that I must have been truly astral, for I had no notion that my vision would be distorted while out of body before my experience. I’ve since corresponded with other astral travelers who also have distorted vision while out of body.

Why did I think I was back in the physical and had opened my eyes when I was still “out?”

This is another experience shared by many astral travelers, called “false awakening.” I don’t know the answer.

I had read that if you just thought about being somewhere, you’d be there, but then I had trouble “hurrying” home. What was this hopping/flying maneuver about? Why was moving in the astral so awkward?

This is another experience shared by other astral travelers, though many have no problem moving about, and just think themselves to where they want to go. Some say that with experience, we gain better mobility, but some people have no trouble from the very beginning. I don’t think it can be solely dependent on the traveler’s belief system, since I believed that thinking myself to where I wanted to go would work, and it didn’t.

Psychic Vampire Wants a Healthier Way to Get Energy

Copyright Soul Arcanum LLC. All rights reserved. :)
Dear Soul Arcanum:

A psychic told me that my aura is black. I thought this meant I was evil and bad. I am constantly attempting to connect with the world around me, for I feel disconnected and far away. I am ever trying to connect spiritually and emotionally with others through physical contact, especially lovemaking. I feel a strong need for the connection between mother and child, and I want to take care of something helpless so that it will need me. I grew up in an alcoholic home with no one to help me or reach out and hold me. I am depressed and very negative and pessimistic. This is my shield; I have to be this way in my current situation. I want to be a spiritual person, but I don’t feel like I fit in. I feel all alone. Others often mirror my moods and emotions, and I try to get near happy, peaceful people so that I can be more like them. Is this psychic vampirism? I went through a phase of cutting and vampirism in my adolescent years, and used the exchange of blood as a sexual way of getting close to people. It made me feel energized. I want to feel connected. I often feel threatened by negative energies in my home, and I think they are created by my negative moods. Can you give me advice? – Shirley

Dear Shirley:

As you are extraordinarily self-aware, I predict you’re on the verge of a major spiritual breakthrough. Before I go into your question on psychic vampirism, I urge you to examine your belief that you have to be depressed and pessimistic in order to protect yourself. Since like attracts like, true psychic protection involves turning up our inner light and focusing with faith and joy on what we desire – but that is another column.

For those who don’t know, psychic vampires are people who lack a clear, strong connection to Source, and in order to get their basic energy needs met, they try to feed on the life force energy of others. There are some fascinating scientific studies of the human energy field that demonstrate via aura photography that our auras are indeed influenced by the auras of other people. These studies have shown that in relationships where people feel good when they’re together, each individual’s aura becomes bigger and brighter while in the presence of the other person. By contrast, in negative interactions or relationships, auras constrict and grow dimmer. This corresponds with feelings of fatigue and negative emotions in the participants.

Other studies have even demonstrated that some individuals are very skilled at purposefully tapping into and feeding off of other people’s auras. Researchers can actually watch as the psychic vampire’s aura grows stronger and brighter while the victim’s aura grows dimmer.

Here are some questions you might ask yourself if you want to know if you’re a psychic vampire:

Do you generally feel better when you’re with other people as opposed to alone? Do you crave attention and love to be in the spotlight? Do others often interrupt you or abruptly end conversations with you? Do you take a very long time to explain what you want to say? Do you often complain about physical ailments or mundane problems? Are you more of a talker than a listener? Do you lean on others for help with basic life necessities, or frequently ask for favors or advice? Are you constantly disappointed in other people or situations because they don’t fulfill all your needs and desires?

If you answered yes to many of the questions above, odds are good that you are trying to get some of your life force energy needs met by trying to grab and hold other people’s attention.

The fact that you grew up in an alcoholic household fits the picture as well. Most psychic vampires have at least one parent who was also a psychic vampire. Since children have much stronger needs for care and energy than adults, when they are leaned on heavily by a parent or grow up in dysfunctional households, they may never get a chance to develop a healthy energy system. It may also be that you simply learned to seek energy in other people from your parents – that they leaned on others for energy so you learned that this is normal.

It’s well known that the children of alcoholics often become codependent. Please research this and get some therapy to resolve these core issues. What you really need is not another person to need you, but rather to heal some deep abandonment wounds from the past, and learn how to love and respect yourself the way you long to be loved and respected by others. I highly recommend hypnotherapy to address the limiting subconscious beliefs you picked up in childhood (and perhaps in past lives), and to heal your depression and cultivate well-being from within.

Since you mentioned negative energies in your home, it’s important to note that sometimes people become psychic vampires to compensate for their own energy being drained by another person or an astral entity. Unresolved issues from the past (including past lives) can also be very draining, so I again recommend hypnotherapy or energy healing work to check out those possibilities.

In any case, you can break this cycle by developing the healthy connection to Source that you never got a chance to develop as a child. If you tap into the Divine, you’ll find an infinite supply of energy available to you; by contrast, trying to meet our energy needs through other people is exhausting in and of itself, and never truly satisfying.

First you must make a firm decision that you will no longer continue in this pattern. Instead, you’ll receive all the energy you need in healthy ways: from the earth, the air you breathe, the food you eat, and Divine Source. Affirm that your supply is infinite, and that all you have to do is open to the Divine to feel recharged and renewed.

In addition to taking good care of yourself by getting enough sleep, exercise, healthy food and restful sleep, I highly recommend you take up something like yoga or tai chi to get the energy flowing freely through your system, and also meditate to connect to Source energy.

To begin to draw all the energy you need through daily spiritual practice, I recommend you work with my Chakra Clearing and Charging Meditation. At the end of that meditation, your root chakra will be open, charged and clear. Visualize red energy flowing up from the earth into your root chakra as well as into the soles of your feet. Feel the earth energy charging your whole being with power, health, strength, vitality and well-being. Feel this energy swirling throughout your whole being, and going wherever it needs to go and becoming whatever it needs to become to keep you feeling strong, healthy, and centered in your personal power.

Next focus on your crown chakra and visualize white light pouring into your crown from Source. See it flowing through all of your being, filling you with peace, well-being, energy and vitality. See it swirling throughout your being, going wherever you need it to go in order to feel calm, peaceful and centered. Notice how it is crystalline and opalescent: it shines with all the colors of the rainbow, so as it flows throughout your being, it can become whatever you need it to be.

If you practice this meditation every morning and whenever you feel drained, tired, or in need of more energy, and you also follow up on my other suggestions, I have faith that very soon, you’ll feel like a brand new person.

Psychically Clearing Secondhand Jewelry

Copyright Soul Arcanum LLC. All rights reserved. :)
Dear Soul Arcanum:

I’m wondering if it’s possible to completely clear secondhand jewelry of the prior owners’ energy. I want to purchase an old gold setting and place some new stones in it, but before I invest a lot of time and money in this project, I want to make sure this is possible. Thanks for your time! – Claudia

Dear Claudia:

You’re wise to consider this issue before beginning your project. I used to buy a lot of jewelry on Ebay, as I love the character of vintage pieces. I’ve learned that even when you’re highly intuitive, however, it’s hard to get a true feel for something until you are actually holding it in your hands. It’s sort of like internet dating: you can like the way a person looks in a photo and love everything they say via email, but still have things feel off when you meet in person. I have a number of pieces of jewelry that I’ve never worn because even after cleansing them, putting them on felt like trying to push the wrong ends of a magnet together!

Let’s back up for anyone who is unfamiliar with this subject matter. Whenever we interact with a physical object, our body’s magnetic field makes an imprint on it. The more time we spend with that object, the more it will pick up our vibration. Further, the stronger our emotions when interacting with the object, the stronger the imprint will be. The more enduring the object, the longer it will tend to hold a charge. So a house can hold a charge for centuries, while a banana peel will quickly lose its charge as it biodegrades.

This is why jewelry like watches and wedding bands are such great subjects for psychometry, which is the process of psychically reading the imprints on physical objects. Watches and wedding bands are not only durable, they are typically worn close to the skin and therefore charged every day. Wedding bands are also infused with abstract meaning, for they’re powerful symbolic representations of immortal love.

As houses are easily charged and hold that charge for a long time, every house has a unique psychic atmosphere. Typically in a residual haunting, something happened in the house that was so emotionally traumatic or intense that the energy of that event can be sensed by anyone who feels for it.

Your question reminds me of the haunted bed at my grandparents’ house. It was physically beautiful: an antique four-poster carved out of dark wood with a matching mirror. It had been shipped over from England many years before, so no one knew how old it was, or the details of its history. It was in the spare bedroom at their house, which was rarely used, so it retained lots of energy from long ago.

Being a very sensitive child, I knew I did NOT like that room. I was only about four years old when I started objecting to going in there for any reason, so I can’t remember all the details, but I do remember telling my mother that it was a bad room. I also remember seeing something in the mirror, but when I turned around, it wasn’t there.

My mother explained that it wasn’t the room that was the problem, but the BED. She told me that the bed was very old and she had never liked the way it felt either. Since we spend so much of our lives in our beds, they tend to have strong energetic imprints. I would psychically assess secondhand beds and mattresses very carefully before putting them in my house!

Now if you think about it, there is no such thing as a new stone. Everything is of the earth, including plastic – it’s just that the elements in plastic are no longer in a natural, organic state. When we say that something is natural, we mean that it’s in the same state it was in when it was taken from the earth.

Even natural objects like crystals have been mined and then cleaned, stored, shipped and placed on display for sale, so they have passed through many hands. Stones and metal hold a psychic charge very well, so they are excellent subjects for psychometry. This is why, magically speaking, it’s bad manners to touch other people’s jewelry. Also, I would never touch someone’s medicine pouch, amulet, talisman, magic wand or any other sacred object without permission.

New objects that have been created are infused with the energy of their creators. The more energy and attention we put into a creation, the more of our vibration it will carry, so works of art always have a strong vibration. This is one reason why some pieces really attract us. While we may be drawn to the way they look, they also have a certain overall feeling or vibration. When we feel drawn to them, it’s often the energy of the artist that we are resonating with. (This is also why some artists can be less skillful but much more popular than other artists – they have great energy!)

All the things we purchase, such as food, clothing, furniture, houses, etc., will have some energy residue from the people who created them and all the people who have handled them. It’s a little different when an object has been previously owned, however, for the longer we spend with objects, the more of our energy they will tend to absorb. That’s why many people believe it’s important to feel for the energy of secondhand objects before we buy them, and cleanse them before we try to make them our own.

Of course, over time, our possessions naturally take on more and more of our energy as they attune to our vibration. This is why a house starts to feel like home after a while, and how that jewelry got its prior owners’ energy in it to begin with. Knowing this, you can speed this process up. For something like a new piece of jewelry, you could wear it all the time. Keep it on when you go to bed, or place it next to the bed or under your pillow. You could also formally bless it or perform a ritual to infuse it with your energy.

You can wipe away psychic residue from objects by physically and energetically cleansing them. There are all sorts of methods for going about this, and I don’t have to room here to go into them. Some traditional methods include washing objects in salt or holy water, burying them in salt crystals or in the earth, passing them through fire, smudging them with the smoke of sage or incense, leaving them out under sunlight or moonlight for a period of time, or using the power of your will/spirit to clear and bless them. There is a ton of information on this available in books and on the internet; let your intuition guide you to the best way for you.

As to whether or not it’s possible to completely clear an object’s psychic record, I guess that would depend on a number of factors. In most cases, you should quickly be able to replace whatever vibrations are there with your new energy by simply setting this as your clear intention.

If, however, a piece was purposefully charged by someone with great spiritual power, the situation is more complicated. For example, if a pendant was charged with a spell for protection or created as an amulet, it may hold that charge much more stubbornly. I imagine it would take someone of equal spiritual skill and power to ground that energy back into the earth.

As such objects are rare and their vibrations are very strong, however, it’s safe to assume that you’ll be able to psychically cleanse most if not all of the items you want to make your own.

Where is the Astral World?

Dear Soul Arcanum:

I’ve gotten interested in astral projection, and I’m planning on trying it sometime soon, but first I have a few questions. Is astral projection traveling into a spirit world like the afterlife? Where are you when you’re out of your body? If I were to try it with my friends, would we be able to meet up somewhere?
– Christine

Dear Christine:

Naturally, no one can give you definitive answers on the nature of metaphysical reality, so what I offer you here is based on what I’ve learned from others and experienced from projecting myself.

First, when we talk about other dimensions like the astral plane, using the term “where” is rather confusing. Instead of picturing these dimensions in some other place, we might imagine them as a different form of the space we are already familiar with.

Let’s say that the physical world is like ice, and when we raise the vibration/temperature of that ice, it melts and becomes water. It’s now fluid and we can see through it, though from the right angle, we can perceive its presence. This water is a bit like the etheric plane, which is one vibrational step above the physical.

When we heat the water further, it becomes a cloud of steam. It’s still there, but is now invisible to us. Where the water just pooled on the floor and the ice was stuck in one spot, the steam can travel to the ceiling and the highest, farthest corners of the room.

This is one way to conceptualize the etheric and astral planes, which are dimensions higher in vibration than the physical. They exist right here, only at a higher vibration. (There are higher planes than the etheric and astral, but for now, let’s stick with these three.)

Just as we have a physical body in the physical plane, we subtle bodies that exist in other planes. One step higher than the physical is our etheric body, and one step higher than that is our astral body. (These subtle bodies can be seen in our auras.)

The etheric plane is so close to the physical that those of us who generally have a high vibration are often aware of it. For example, whenever we catch a glimpse of a spirit in our peripheral vision or see an aura, we are perceiving things with our etheric eyes. This is why to see auras, we can’t be focused on both the person and their aura. When one is in focus, the other is out of focus because we are shifting our consciousness between our physical body and our etheric body.

Most of the time, what we call astral projection is actually etheric projection. When we project etherically, we become like the water mentioned above: we remain in the physical plane but step outside ourselves. Like water melting off of ice, we can look back at our bodies from a new perspective.

During etheric projection we seem to be in the physical reality we’re familiar with. For example, if we project while in our bedroom, we may separate from our body to find ourselves hovering above our body on the bed. We tend to feel very restricted during etheric projection, like we have to remain very close to our bodies. If we do travel, we won’t go far. We may feel lighter than we do physically, but still not be able to fly around like we’re weightless. This is sort of like being in a state between water and steam – if we try to go too far, we condense on surfaces and become water again.

Astral projection involves the transfer of our consciousness beyond the etheric to our astral body. This is much more difficult because it requires us to raise our consciousness to a higher vibration. (The higher the metaphysical dimension, the higher we must raise our consciousness to explore it.)

The astral may have many similarities to physical reality, but it can also seem wild and different. We are actually in the astral plane when we dream every night, so we are all quite familiar with the amazing and unusual things that can happen in this realm.

Yes, this does mean that we all project into the astral every night. In fact, while we’re sleeping, our consciousness shifts into our etheric bodies so we can recharge our life force energy. We’re sort of like ipods that can only run for so long before they need to be recharged; after we’ve played for hours, we have to plug back into Source.

After we’ve soaked up a good amount of energy via sleep, we can rise a bit higher in vibration and wander off in our astral bodies to have adventures. This is why REM activity picks up so much in the early morning hours: we’re charged up from all that deep sleep and ready for action.

The difference between a regular dream and astral projection is how conscious we are during the experience. If we purposefully leave our bodies to travel in the astral, we call it astral projection. If we remain conscious that we are out of our bodies and thus maintain some control over the experience, that’s astral projection. Obviously, this is not the case during regular dreams. In fact, experienced astral projectors have reported being in the astral and witnessing dreamers play out dream scenes, oblivious to the fact that they are dreaming.

The astral is indeed where many spirits reside, at least for a while. It may even be that spirits who have moved beyond the astral can visit with us there. Many people encounter loved ones in Spirit in their dreams, and some very experienced astral projectors purposefully leave their bodies to visit with the spirits of friends and family on a regular basis.

As for meeting up with friends who are also projecting, controlling where you go while out of the body can be both very tricky and very easy depending on various factors.

Making this happen via will power takes tremendous skill. For example, back when I practiced astral projection a lot, I would always set an intention to go visit someone I knew so I could later check to see if what I saw them doing was valid. Every time I got out of my body, however, I totally forgot about my plans because I was so caught up in the experience. Much to my later frustration, I spent a number of sessions endlessly springing up to touch the ceiling because I was totally fascinated with the feeling of being in my etheric body.

The easiest way to connect with a friend or spirit in the astral is to simply to set that intention and ask Spirit or your higher self to fulfill it. If you don’t achieve your goal while consciously projecting, odds are good you will at least have some amazing “dreams” that involve the person you want to visit.

The astral is like a newly discovered continent: we don’t have great maps yet, so we have to be willing to experiment to discover its nature and establish routes and meeting places. I believe that thanks to trailblazers like you, in the future we’ll have many more answers about the nature of other planes of existence, as well as reliable, effective ways to get out of our bodies and explore other worlds.

Signs of Chakra Imbalance

Copyright Soul Arcanum LLC. All rights reserved. :)

Dear Soul Arcanum:

Could you tell me the difference between balancing chakras and unblocking chakras, and aligning and cleansing chakras? Also, is there a simple way to determine if we’re in or out of balance? In Love and Light!
– Pam

Dear Pam:

When I refer to a block in a chakra, I mean that something is getting in the way of the free flow of energy through that vortex. It’s sort of like having an artery that is clogged with plaque, only instead of a physical block, this is a metaphysical block that is composed of stagnant emotional energy.

When I speak of cleansing a chakra, it’s sort of like angioplasty: we clear away whatever debris is preventing free flow through that channel. This can be done through various types of therapy or energy healing, but it’s usually more effective if whatever issues created the block to begin with are brought into one’s conscious awareness so they can be consciously processed, healed and released. This can be achieved via psychic reading work, though hypnotherapy may be more powerful and effective, for in my experience, what we realize ourselves affects us far more deeply than anything anyone else could tell us.

When I talk about balancing the chakras, I’m not talking about a one-time cure. Like cultivating physical health and well-being, this is a lifelong process. Just as the state of our physical health largely depends on our habits, so does the state of our chakra balance. For example, if we tend to be far more physical than spiritual, our root chakra will be much more developed than our crown chakra. For a sense of health and well-being, we want to be a well-balanced, well-developed person on every level.

People tend to develop from the lower chakras up, which makes sense if you think about it. We begin as primarily physical creatures and become more and more sophisticated in our approach to life. However, it’s easy to neglect whatever we’re not really into at the moment. Thus we often see highly “spiritual” people who are in terrible shape physically because they neglect their bodies.

Since an imbalance in the chakras is caused by emotional imbalance, you don’t have to be psychic to evaluate the state of your chakras or anyone else’s. Below is a quick guide to some of the symptoms of chakra problems. Please note that when I refer to the overdevelopment or underdevelopment of a chakra, I mean in relationship to the rest of one’s being.

Root Chakra: (red) governs all matters physical Symptoms of overdevelopment: greed, recklessness, hyperactivity, carelessness, diarrhea, wasting away Symptoms of underdevelopment: poverty, low energy, listlessness, clumsiness, constipation, obesity, chronic fatigue Someone with good balance will be healthy, fit, grounded, prosperous, centered and strong.

Sexual Chakra: (orange) governs creativity and procreation Symptoms of overdevelopment: sexual addiction or promiscuity; romantic, sexual or creative obsessions; fetishism; STD’s Symptoms of underdevelopment: Puritanism, frigidity/impotence, creative blocks, sexual repression, infertility Someone with good balance will be sexually well-adjusted, have a strong libido, know how to set healthy boundaries in relationships, and be able to use their creativity constructively.

Solar Plexus Chakra (yellow) governs will Symptoms of overdevelopment: high stress, aggression, willfulness, control issues, inability to relax, arrogance, ulcers Symptoms of underdevelopment: indifference, passivity, complacency, victim mentality, disempowerment, indigestion Someone with good balance will be productive, cooperative, flexible, focused, empowered, successful and well-adjusted.

Heart Chakra (green) governs emotions Symptoms of overdevelopment: too trusting, smothering, effusive, codependent/enabling, too nice, too giving, heart problems Symptoms of underdevelopment: distrusting, cold, aloof, reserved, uncompassionate, heartless, self-centered, selfish, weak immune system Someone with good balance will be loving, warm, affectionate, accepting, tolerant and equally loving of self and others.

Throat Chakra (blue) governs self-expression Symptoms of overdevelopment: talking or saying too much, not listening well, being argumentative, acting like a know-it-all, being critical, sore throats, overactive thyroid Symptoms of underdevelopment: trouble expressing yourself, inability to speak up, lack of confidence in your opinions, shyness, under-active thyroid, asthma Someone with good balance will be expressive, eloquent, a great communicator and a good listener.

Third Eye (indigo) governs intellect Symptoms of overdevelopment: racing thoughts, hung up on logic, too abstract in thinking, living in your head, endlessly planning but not doing, hallucinations, headaches/migraines Symptoms of underdevelopment: unconscious, illogical, unable to think abstractly, acting without thinking, forgetfulness, inability to remember dreams, vision/eye problems Someone with good balance will be intelligent, clear-headed, alert, thoughtful, have a good memory, have good eyesight and be generally insightful.

Crown Chakra (violet) governs spiritual life Symptoms of overdevelopment: out of touch with reality, ungrounded, unable to manifest material needs, feeling like you don’t belong here on Earth, Messiah complex, schizophrenia, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s Symptoms of underdevelopment: lack of spiritual awareness, lack of a sense of higher values or higher purpose, lack of spiritual beliefs, depression, fear and cynicism Someone with good balance will know how to live in the world but not of it, have a fulfilling spiritual life, be able to enjoy physical pleasures without getting addicted, love life but not dread death, have a deep sense of connection to the Divine, and regularly tune in to determine the right course of action.

If you discover you have too much energy flowing through some chakras as opposed to others, it’s best to simply focus on developing the higher qualities of the underdeveloped chakras, for this will both counteract that imbalance and lead you to channel your energy in the overdeveloped areas in wiser ways.

For example, if Bill is far more spiritual than he is physical, he probably often feels spacey and out of touch with reality. Thought he may like it that way, he probably also has health problems, is out of shape, and has trouble manifesting money and other practical needs. To create better balance, he doesn’t have to become “less spiritual, ” he just needs to spend more time taking care of his body and putting his house and his finances in order. If he dives into this, soon he may begin to feel like all he does is take care of physical concerns, which would be a sign that he’s swung too far in this new direction and needs to reevaluate his personal balance.

We must remember that we are part of nature, so as we flow from one season of life to the next, we must ever adjust our sense of balance in order to maintain our well-being.

Can She Help Grieving Mom Communicate with Departed Husband?

Copyright Soul Arcanum LLC. All rights reserved. :)

Dear Soul Arcanum:

My mom lost her second husband almost a year ago, and she is having a hard time with this. I’ve asked her to seek grief counseling, but she won’t do it. Last summer my stepfather came to me in a dream. This is not unusual – I’ve had many spirits come to me. In the dream, I was at the foot of my mom’s bed, talking to her as she cried over his death. He entered the room and I was so happy to see him. I said to him, “Ron help her! Help my mom!” He sat at her bedside and wrapped his arms around her. Then he turned to me and said, “I can’t. She won’t let me.” When I asked why I could perceive him and she couldn’t, he said it was because of her sadness. He then explained that he doesn’t understand such feelings, for they are no longer a part of him. He said he feels no sadness, regret, anger or grief – he only feels the love they still have. He wanted me to tell her he is with her every day. Every time I’m with my mom, she asks why she can’t feel him. I have no real answers for her aside from what he told me. Can I help her to be more open to him?
– Susan

Dear Susan:

This is mainly a problem of vibration. Sadly, it’s often the people who most long for contact with a loved one in Spirit who have the hardest time. This is because the emotions of grief are of a very low vibration, and in order to consciously connect with spirits, we have to reach high toward their vibratory range.

This is also why spirit contact is a relatively rare experience: when someone we love dies, we are grieving during the time when they are trying the hardest to connect with us. Once our grief has subsided, our loved ones know we’re okay and they move on. So what your stepfather told you in that dream is right on.

I’m betting your mom isn’t big on remembering her dreams, for if she was, she would have had a dream about your stepfather already. As you are very psychic, you have a naturally high vibration and ready access to your dreams. I’m sure your stepfather came to you because he’s been trying very hard to get through to your mom without success.

In order to connect while awake, we must have a high vibration, unmitigated desire, and the belief that this is possible. Then if we can stay open and trust what we perceive, it’s pretty simple to draw spirits close with feelings of our love for them.

Here are some suggestions for anyone who is grieving and longing for contact with a loved one in Spirit:

First you must give yourself some time to heal, for as you do, your vibration will naturally rise. When you are at peace with your loved one’s passing, you will be in a better position to purposefully connect with their spirit.

In the mean time, you can try for contact via your dreams. Of course, for this to work, you must be able to remember them, so begin to keep a dream journal and study various techniques for remembering and working with your dreams. Each night before you go to sleep, think of your loved one with affection and ask them to visit you while you’re dreaming. You can also ask your spirit guides and angels to facilitate this experience.

Ask yourself if you have any fear about the whole idea of spirit communication. Many people think they want this but deep down the idea of it unnerves them. That fear can both make us block our own success, and make our loved ones in Spirit hold back because they don’t want to scare us.

Further, ask yourself if there are any inner conflicts or issues you have yet to resolve about your relationship with the loved one in Spirit you are seeking. If you’re carrying any conscious or subconscious feelings of guilt, anger or any other lower emotion, those feelings can lower your vibration and prevent contact. For example, if you feel guilty because you weren’t there when your loved one crossed over, you could subconsciously “protect” yourself from facing your loved one until you resolve those feelings.

Beliefs are very important here. The more you expect to be able to connect with spirits, the more that will tend to happen. It is therefore wise to read about others’ success. It can also help to have someone else make contact. (For example, you might ask your stepfather to come to you in another dream and give you some information you could not have known. This evidence will both convince your mom that he’s really trying to come through, and show her that it’s possible to ask for a dream and have it happen.)

Understand that the spirit world is all around us, but it’s not tangible like this realm. If you expect to be able to perceive spirits with nothing but your physical senses, you will be disappointed. Some people even call the spirit world the “subtle realm.” Our thoughts and feelings already exist in this subtle realm, which means that spirits naturally come to us via thoughts and feelings. To manifest success with spirit communication, we must learn to trust that our thoughts and feelings about spirits are “real.”

When you feel you’re ready to make contact, turn on all your senses, sit quietly, and open up to a ny impressions you get. It’s rare that we sit quietly with all our senses turned on and then reach out to Spirit from a high vibration, and yet that’s all we really need to do.

As you reach out with your heart from a high vibration, watch for signs of your loved one’s presence. You may feel awash with love, sense their presence, have their face pop into your mind, hear their voice in your head, or have some memory you strongly associate with them seep through from the background of your mind. (For example, whenever my grandmother is near, I begin to notice memories of her house popping through from the background of my conscious awareness. These may be mental snapshots of the street she lived on or of rooms in her house.)

When something like this happens, let your heart swell with love for this person. Don’t focus on feelings of loss and how they aren’t here anymore, for that will bring your vibration down. Instead, remember happy memories. It may also help to physically smile, close your eyes, and turn your face upward, like you’re basking in the light of the sun. Breathe deeply and evenly, and send thoughts of love to this spirit. Tell them that you’re not afraid and ask them to draw near so you can psychically embrace them. This can lead to some very moving experiences.

Mind you, all of this is metaphysical, so it’s happening on an auric level. Sometimes you may feel things in your aura like tingling, or like someone is faintly stroking your hair. The hair may stand up on the back of your neck, or you may get goose bumps. Afterward, your head may still have some doubts, but your heart will know that something real has occurred.

In closing, while I applaud your desire to help your mom, we each have to find our own spiritual path through life, and there is only so much we can do for others. I want to reassure you that your mom is being guided and will heal in her own way and time.

Will Spirit Communication Be Easier in the Age of Aquarius?

Copyright Soul Arcanum LLC. All rights reserved. :)

Dear Soul Arcanum:

I’ve been reading about a certain shift that may happen around 2012. Is this true? If it is, do you think we will then be able to communicate with our loved ones who have passed over more easily? It’s hard to believe that nature intended death’s sudden and total disconnection from those we love. Soul Arcanum, please give me any answers you may have. Thanks and love to you!
– Arsheya

Dear Arsheya:

First we must remember that life is an evolutionary journey – that all living beings are constantly growing more complex, more intelligent, and higher in spiritual vibration. This applies not only to the individual but to all life. Even the planet is evolving and rising in vibration: scientists have determined that the Earth’s base resonant frequency is increasing.

I do believe that there are turning points in this evolutionary process when a critical threshold is reached, after which global and perhaps universal shifts occur. This is often referred to as the 100th monkey effect, which has demonstrated that once a certain number of a population learns something new, that knowledge spreads throughout the rest of the population.

Further, Rupert Sheldrake’s research into morphic resonance has demonstrated that it’s easier for people to learn things that other people have already mastered. For example, average IQ rates have risen in the past few decades, which suggests that we are all building on the evolutionary progress of our forebears. This grows from the idea of non-locality in quantum physics, and how we all must be connected on a metaphysical level, since particles can be separated by great distances but still affect each other.

As for 2012, this date is found in the predictions of many ancient civilizations, but most notably those of the ancient Mayans, who were known for extraordinary astronomical achievements. In the ancient Mayan calendar, December 21, 2012, is a major turning point, for at this time, all numbers in the Mayan calendar reset to zero, and we enter a new age. Further, on this date the plane of our solar system will align with the plane of our galaxy, the Milky Way, for the first time in 26,000 years, which indicates the end of a major cycle and the beginning of a new one. According to some astrologers (but certainly not all), this is the official start of the Age of Aquarius.

This transition into a new age is already well underway, of course, and is growing day by day. The awakening of humanity to a new level of consciousness has been evolving since the beginning of time. A major shift began in the 1960’s, however, and many say that it will continue to grow as we head toward 2012, at which time we will reach that critical number needed for global change. After that, a new level of spiritual consciousness will spread around the world and become the norm, and humanity will enjoy a spiritual renaissance.

It is said that this transition will lead humanity into higher spiritual awareness and the desire to make the world a better place for all its inhabitants. It will shift the Earth into a higher spiritual vibration, which will mean that we are closer to the vibration of the spirit planes, and spirit communication and related endeavors will indeed become easier and more universal.

I don’t believe that those of us who are living through this transition will experience anything sudden or dramatic, however. Perhaps when viewed in the context of all of human history on this planet, it may look like a dramatic shift, but for those of us who are going through it, it will seem gradual.

As for the merit in these ideas, I have really been struck by the number of people who are awakening to the truth that we create our own realities. In fact, I believe we are heading toward a time when everyone will know how to employ the law of attraction to make the world a better place.

We can also see the energy of Aquarius in the development of quantum theory and the incredible surge of technological innovation that has marked that past 100 years or so. There is also growing interest in the synthesis of science and mysticism, alternative health practices and other spiritual matters all Aquarian interests.

As the energy of Aquarius takes over, I expect we will see more and more people thinking for themselves, which will lead to the further breakdown of traditional religion and a greater emphasis on personal spiritual paths. As was the trend in the 1960’s, people will question cultural norms, reject silly laws and codes of behavior, explore innovative alternatives, and strive for a sense of peace and brotherhood.

I also expect this will lead to big breakthroughs in scientific methods for exploring other dimensions. Aquarius is not about blind faith but open-minded, rational exploration of the unknown. This could mean we soon have reliable ways to communicate with spirit via technology like EVP. The use of mind-altering substances or new techniques to facilitate mystical states of consciousness is another strong possibility.

Further, as their vibrations rise, more and more people will naturally awaken to their psychic abilities, which will lead to more people having encounters with spirits and other metaphysical experiences. These initial encounters will open up belief systems and lead to more and more spiritual phenomena.

As for what nature intended, who could say? When I ask Spirit about this, I’m reminded of special camps and schools where parents and their children are not allowed to have any contact for the first two weeks or so. This is so that the kids can adjust to their new environments, learn to be independent, and make new friends. Otherwise, instead of focusing on where they are and what they are supposed to be doing, they’d be calling home all the time, begging their parents to come and get them, and not taking full advantage of their new learning environment.

Finally, doomsayers predict that life as we know it will end catastrophically on December 21, 2012, while visionaries herald the dawn of a glorious renaissance. I believe each individual will determine how this shift manifests for them. There are many parallel realities, and people who believe that 2012 will bring catastrophe will gravitate toward that reality. The more people talk about, write about and think about catastrophe, the more power that reality will gain, and the more people will be pulled into that orbit.

The same is true of utopian visions, of course, so it is very wise to focus on and believe in what we desire, and all the wonderful changes that our evolution toward higher consciousness could bring.
